Dr. Jennie Lou joined the College of Allopathic Medicine in 2017. She is responsible for providing leadership for the ongoing development and implementation of the college’s undergraduate medical education program; assuring preparation of the medical school graduates for clinical practice and medical scholarship; and serving as a liaison between the medical school, the clinical affiliate faculty, and the hospitals and educational leadership. She is also responsible for initiating innovative and integrated teaching and learning strategies as well as instructional technology.

Prior to joining the M.D. College, Dr. Lou was a professor of biomedical informatics, public health and internal medicine for the College of Osteopathic Medicine. She served as founding director of the college’s Biomedical Informatics Program, one of the premium programs in the U.S. evidenced by its consistent top 10 ranking by multiple agencies.

Dr. Lou received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University in China, and completed her post-graduate research and clinical training in the fields of biomedical sciences, neuroscience, and rehabilitation science at McMaster University in Canada.

In 1999, Dr. Lou participated in the National Institutes of Health’s Human Genome Project and was awarded an epidemiology certificate from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She is also a certified epidemiologist by the American College of Epidemiologists.

Dr. Lou has extensive bench and clinical research experiences. Throughout her career, she has established a solid track record securing external research funding and being published in scholarly publications. She has served as an editor and editorial review board member for many peer-reviewed journals and is a scientist reviewer for Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
