Barry M. Schwartz, M.D., joined the faculty at the NSU Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine in 2017 in the department of Surgery. Prior to that he was in the private practice of plastic surgery in Weston, Florida from 1992 to 2017, and North Miami Beach, Florida from 1978 to 1992.
Dr. Schwartz graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed his full training in general surgery and plastic surgery at Boston University School of Medicine. Upon completion, he served as an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at Boston University for a year and then moved to South Florida in 1978. He also spent two years as a Major and general surgeon in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. His practice focused on both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. After the earthquake in Haiti he spent two rotations there doing reconstructive surgery.
