Nova Southeastern University’s post-professional respiratory therapy program makes it convenient for working professionals like you to become leaders. 

NSU’s Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) is an online program where you’ll dive deeper into subjects such as sleep medicine, legal issues and evidence-based practice. As a fully online student at NSU you’ll still receive continuous support from your instructors. You’ll have 24/7 access to lectures and materials that fit your schedule. Your practical fieldwork (practicum, internship or scientific investigations) allow you to explore new fields and cutting-edge topics.

Specialization in Management courses can be taken in addition to the post-professional curriculum and required practical course work. Completion of the 5 Specialization in Management courses will grant a specialization in Health Care Management in addition to the BSRT degree.

Admissions Information

Admission into the program will require the following:

  1. Hold NBRC registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. (A Block Grant of 45 credits will be applied toward the BSRT upon proof of RRT),
  2. Currently hold a license to practice respiratory therapy, where applicable.
  3. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale from all undergraduate work.
  4. Completion of all prerequisite coursework with a minimum grade of C, from a regionally accredited college or university. Students can be dual enrolled while completing any additional general education requirements. Credits can be transferred in prior to completion of the program. Degree will not be granted until all general education requirements are met.

  1. A completed online application along with a $50, non-refundable application fee.
  2. Official college transcripts, certificates, and/or diploma-based transcripts from all universities/institutions attended. Transcripts will receive a formal transcript evaluation and NSU transfer course equivalencies. Professional Licensure Disclosure Statement: Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy is a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (COARC) accredited program of study. Graduation from a COARC accredited Respiratory Therapy/Care program is required to sit for National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) exams, which are necessary for licensure to practice in all 50 states. It also meets the educational degree completion requirement for licensure in all 50 states. Students should note that requirements for professional licensure can vary drastically by state. Because these requirements can change frequently and often without notice, it is strongly encouraged and is the responsibility of the student to ensure the degree they earn will meet requirements for licensure in the state in which they seek to be licensed. The Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences cannot confirm whether its Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy degree meets all of the licensure requirements in a student’s state of residence. Block Grant

Applicants may qualify for a Block Grant of 45 credits with a NBRC registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. (The 45 credits will be applied toward the BSRT upon proof of RRT.)

Financial Aid

The primary financial responsibility for a student’s education rests with the student and his or her family. Economic circumstances for some families may make it necessary for the student to obtain assistance from other sources.

The Office of Student Financial Assistance at Nova Southeastern University is here to help as many qualified students as possible to complete their health professions education.
