Rolando J. De Leon, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Chair, Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Rolando DeLeon joined the College of Allopathic Medicine in 2020 as Chair/ Clinical Professor, Affiliate in the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He helped in developing the curriculum for the third year OBGYN Clerkship and is currently developing fourth-year elective opportunities in this field.

As a Board Certified OBGYN, Dr. DeLeon has been in clinical practice for over 35 years and serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for both HCA Mercy Hospital and HCA Plantation General Hospital. He is a founding member of VitalMD, the largest multi-specialty group practice in the state, and serves as Chair of the group's Medical Education Committee.

Born in Cuba and raised in Virginia from an early age, Dr. DeLeon received his BS in Biology from Virginia Tech and his MD from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1982. He took his residency training at UM/JMH where afterward, he remained on faculty for several years. Until recently, he held a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of OBGYN at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at FIU.

Dr. DeLeon’s academic interests include clinical embryology, reproductive physiology, and of course, clinical OBGYN. Most importantly, he cherishes his time spent mentoring and guiding medical students towards their chosen careers.
