Dr. Al-Khayat, MD, joined Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine in August 2021 as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Education. At NSU MD, she co-directs the Practice of Medicine (POM) 2 course for the M1class and serves as a small group facilitator of the POM 1 and POM3 courses. She also conducts OBGYN didactic sessions for the M3 class and serves as an advisor for a group of M3-M4 students, in addition to other duties. Prior to this current position, Dr. Al-Khayat served as an Assistant Professor of OBGYN and Medical Skills at California Northstate University, College of Medicine (CNSUCOM). At CNSUCOM she primarily served as a Course Director for both the M1 and M2 Medical Skills courses. She also co-directed the Reproductive Medicine course for the M2 class, in addition to serving as the College of Medicine Interprofessional Education (IPE) representative, and co-chair of the IPE committee at CNSUCOM.

Overseas, Dr. Al-Khayat practiced as an OBGYN Specialist for almost a decade after completing her OBGYN residency in 2004.

Dr. Al-Khayat has special interest in Healthcare Simulations and IPE. In affiliation with the Health Sciences Simulation Center at Broward College, she developed workshops in Healthcare Simulations for NSU MD faculty as part of faculty development. She participated in several scholarly activities including curriculum development, IPE, and OBGYN.
