Dr. Armas joined the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Medicine in 2022 as an Assistant Professor, Medical Education. Prior to joining NSU, Dr. Armas served as a founding faculty member of the Graduate Certificate in Molecular and Biomedical Sciences Program at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine where she taught Medical Molecular Biology.

Dr. Armas also taught first-year medical students in the foundational course Genes, Molecules and Cells and facilitated ethics debriefing sessions with third-year medical students in the Internal Medicine Clerkship. Dr. Armas earned her B.S. in Biology and Master of Public Health from the University of South Florida. She earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Molecular Cell Biology from the University of Florida College of Medicine. Her doctoral research focused on the role of DNA repair in Colon Cancer. Over the years, Dr. Armas’ research interests have transitioned into the field of Medical Education. Her current research interests include a wide range of topics such as active learning, ethics in medical education, and curriculum development.
