Wensi Tao, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education at Nova Southeastern University’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he conducted his doctoral research in Dr. Mike Xu’s laboratory, using mouse genetics to investigate mechanisms underlying cancer and developmental diseases. He went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute under the mentorship of Drs. David Tse and Daniel Pelaez. Before joining NSU, Dr. Tao served as a Research Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, leading translational research initiatives in molecular imaging, nanomedicine, and therapeutic development.

Dr. Tao also holds an M.Sc. in Clinical and Translational Investigation from the Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute and an M.Sc. in Business Analytics from the Miami Herbert Business School. His interdisciplinary and quantitative training enables him to integrate laboratory-based experimentation with bioinformatics, data science, and imaging-driven translational modeling. His academic interests span molecular pharmacology, oxidative stress biology, therapeutic discovery, and the application of computational approaches to support precision medicine in ophthalmology and oncology.
