Supporting Our Students

The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) serves as a resource for NSU MD students by promoting student wellness, supporting personal and professional growth and development, and servicing students’ needs in many aspects of life throughout medical school. The office cultivates diversity and a culture of inclusion in a learning environment that embodies principles of integrity and mutual respect while training students in professionalism. Through our Learning Communities, we extend moral support and encouragement via personalized faculty mentoring. The OSA invests in students as colleagues and in support systems that facilitate student success striving to achieve the mission, vision, and core values of the university and college.

We are dedicated to

  • Connecting students with health and wellness resources to maintain physical, mental and spiritual health
  • Encouraging community engagement and relations with local organizations
  • Connecting students with special tutoring assistance
  • Supporting student organizations and planning student activities and events
  • Providing academic and career advising
  • Maintaining student records
  • Processing course registration
  • Certifying graduation requirements and providing documentation to support application and medical licensure processes
  • Enforcing academic policies and procedures
  • Supporting students who apply using the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS)
  • Overseeing the residency match process
  • Planning class-wide events, including Orientation/Teambuilding Day, White Coat Ceremony, Pinning and Oath Ceremony, Awards Ceremony, Match Day, and Commencement
  • Partnering with the Student Financial Assistance Office to provide financial education and literacy, including debt management and scholarship opportunities
