Dr. Caryl Ann Tolchinsky joined the NSU Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine in 2018 as Director of Student Success and Learning Excellence. As part of NSU MD’s Department of Student Affairs she works with course directors, faculty, personnel and other university departments to ensure the academic success, educational and personal development of all M.D. students. She provides developmental academic advising related to learning skills, study strategies, assessment of learning styles, time management, and test preparation on an individual and group basis.

Dr. Tolchinsky has more than 25 years of experience as an educator and administrator in the field of education. Prior to joining NSU MD, she served as NSU’s Assistant Athletic Director of Student Athlete Academic Services and oversaw NSU’s athletic academic department, including coordinating the Academic Success Program for identified student-athletes. She coordinated all educational workshops that contributed to the personal growth and career development of NSU’s student-athletes and served as the department’s primary liaison for academic matters. Dr. Tolchinsky served on the NSU Undergraduate Retention Committee and the inaugural NSU Athletic Hall of Fame Committee. She was also part of the school pride/school spirit task force committee, assisting in the redevelopment of the NSU logo and school mascot, along with identifying ways to increase students’ connection to the university.

Dr. Tolchinsky has presented at academic conferences across the country. Currently, she is a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A), the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) the Student Athlete Development Committee (SADC), and the National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA).

Dr. Tolchinsky holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications (Secondary Education) from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, a Master of Education degree in Reading Instruction from Georgia State University, and a Doctor of Education Degree in Organizational Leadership from NSU. She is an adjunct faculty member in Northeastern University's Graduate Sports Leadership program and NSU’s Graduate School of Teacher Education and Undergraduate First Year Seminar.
