Dr. Vijay Rajput is a Professor and Chair for the Department of Medicine Education at Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine (NSU MD). He has served as the Head of Division of Medical Education in the Department of Medicine for Cooper Medical School of Rowan University New jersey from 2010 -2015. He was a founding assistant dean for clinical curriculum at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University from 2010-2013. He was a program director for Internal Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden, New Jersey from 2004 to 2012.

Dr. Rajput was an associate fellow at the Center for Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania from 2009-2013. He also served as a senior note rater for USMLE Step 2- Clinical Skills examination for CSEC (NBME and ECFMG collaborative) for 20 years. Dr. Rajput has authored or co-authored more than 90 papers, abstracts, and book chapters. He has presented more than 180 seminars, workshops, and grand rounds at regional, national, and international conferences. Dr. Rajput served on editorial boards and reviewers on several journals. Dr. Rajput has received several grants from HRSA and Arnold P. Gold Foundation in the last 15 years. He was supported for Literature and medicine, ethics OSCEs, and Hidden curriculum in medical education.

Over the last 23 years, Dr. Rajput has received more than fifteen “Excellence in Teaching” awards from students, residents, and national organizations like ACGME and SHM. He was awarded the ACGME Parker J. Palmer “Courage to Teach Award”— the most prestigious teaching award in 2011. He was inducted into the UMDNJ’s Master Educator Guild in 2005. Dr. Rajput enjoyed teaching at the bedside as “standup humor ” with patients and learners engaged in discussion. Teaching medicine with help from all types of humor including self-deprecating humor can help engaging learners. His main areas of interest are bedside teaching, professionalism, ethics, and humanism in medicine as well as, student well-being, mentoring, and curriculum development.
