Support from Before Enrollment to Beyond Graduation

Our goal in the Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine (NSU MD) Master of Biological Sciences program is to help each student and alumnus achieve their dream. This means that we offer in-depth, personalized, and easily accessible academic and professional advising and support from pre-M.B.S. enrollment to beyond graduation.

The M.B.S. program shaped me into who I am today. I finally learned how to learn and perform at the level I know I am capable of. The academic preparation I received here was excellent, and I felt like my transition to medical school was much easier thanks to it. Beyond the academics, what made the M.B.S. program special to me was the people. The professors are so invested in the students, especially when you are engaged in the course, and they became phenomenal mentors.

Advising

Upon matriculating into the M.B.S. program, you will be matched with an adviser. Our advisers have years of experience advising and mentoring pre-health professions students. Your adviser will work with you on time management, academic success, study skills, professional advancement, and health professions preparation. While you are assigned an adviser, you also have access to mentoring and advising from any member of the M.B.S. program office or NSU faculty member.

Peer mentoring working together

Peer Mentor Program

Our GuideAShark peer mentorship program assists incoming students with navigating their educational pursuits. New M.B.S. students are paired with a current M.B.S. student(s) who has successfully completed the first semester required courses and/or M.B.S. alumni. Our guides are reliable points of contact for study/class guidance, motivation, and overall wellness.

Student-Run Tutoring Program

Our SmartSharks program is a student-developed, student-run service that offers free tutoring to students for all M.B.S. courses. M.B.S. students who were successful in a designated course will offer you reviews, study strategies, and guidance.
