Academic Success Coach

As part of Orientation and throughout the curriculum (e.g., during the RIA Weeks), the NSU MD's Academic Success Coach, also known as the Director of Student Success and Learning Excellence, provides students with sessions designed to deal with the stress of attending medical school, time management, critical thinking, and study skills. 

Students may work with the Director of Student Success to review and learn a variety of topics.

Areas of support include:

  • Create a study plan for all types of exams
  • Test-taking strategies/test anxiety support
  • Note-taking support
  • Study strategies and methods
  • Learning style preferences
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Prioritization of tasks to reduce stress
  • Procrastination Solutions
  • Resources for STEP and SHELF exams
  • Connecting students to the Peer-to-Peer PALS program
  • Referring students to other services on campus such as counseling or other student support offices.
