In her current position as Associate Professor of Medical Education with NSU MD, Dr. Amanda Chase contributes to global course design and case writing for an integrated, case-based learning curriculum. She earned her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed postdoctoral research on viral immunology at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Chase has 11 years of experience as a medical education facilitator and has collaborated with teams of educators to build innovative curriculum and assessment models for two new medical schools. Currently, she serves as Director of the Interprofessional Collaboration Thread.

Dr. Chase’s research focuses on the integration and assessment of communication in the preclinical years to increase learner proficiency with the application of biomedical knowledge to clinical practice. Recently disseminated publications in the medical education literature include a tool to evaluate session-level integration and an educational approach to using vaccine metaphors. In addition, she facilitates faculty development interventions with a focus on curriculum design and the implementation of case-based instructional methods to integrate the foundational and clinical sciences. She has been active in the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) for five years and is Chair of the IAMSE Educational Scholarship Committee.
