Our Faculty and Staff

Ghaith Al-Eyd, M.B.Ch.B., M.Sc., Ph.D., joined NSU’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine (NSU MD) in 2020 and currently serves as professor of medical education, teaching across multiple courses in the NSU MD integrated curriculum. Prior to this role, he served as associate professor of pathology and assistant dean of assessment at the College of Medicine, California Northstate University. He has also held the positions of associate professor of pathology and medical education, associate dean of the pre-clerkship curriculum, and director of curriculum mapping at the School of Medicine, California University of Science and Medicine.

Overseas, Al-Eyd served as associate dean of the School of Medicine, associate professor of pathology, and specialist pathologist at Gulf Medical University and GMC Hospital in the United Arab Emirates. He earned his M.B.Ch.B. (M.D.), M.Sc. Path., and Ph.D. Path. degrees from Alnahrain University in Baghdad, Iraq.

Throughout his career, Al-Eyd has directed numerous courses and taught a broad range of topics in the basic and clinical sciences, employing varied pedagogies that emphasize clinicopathological correlations essential to clinical reasoning. His teaching experience extends to other medical and health professions programs, including D.O., Pharm.D., D.M.D., B.P.T., Optometry, and graduate Biomedical M.Sc. programs. He has also supervised Master of Science theses and trained clinical pathology candidates.

Throughout his career, Al-Eyd has received multiple awards and commendations recognizing his excellence in teaching and service. His expertise in applied medical education spans curriculum development and management—curriculum mapping, assessment and evaluation, and institutional and programmatic accreditation. He has delivered numerous faculty development sessions and invited talks in his areas of expertise, and he maintains an active record of scholarly presentations and publications in the basic and clinical sciences, as well as in applied medical education—including the applications of artificial intelligence in medical education. He is also an active member of several professional organizations and associations in his field.
